Around the Q - Rob Fleming - Principal

We have had a great start to Term 4 with our Grade 8 students heading south for their annual camp opportunity. We split the cohort into two groups with one going the first half of the week and the remainder during the second. Our students were exceptional, and the amount of positive feedback staff received from the adults they came into contact with was something we as a school, and the students themselves, can be extremely proud of! Our students have a long history of stepping up when representing our school and the two camps further solidified our positive reputation within the wider Tasmanian community.

A huge thank you to the Grade 8 team who put together an engaging and inspiring program for our students to enjoy. Shout out to Mrs. Gibbons who has spent the best part of this year working behind the scenes to make this camp a reality!

As we head towards the end of the year our Grade 10 students have had multiple opportunities to continue their exploration of the world of work. Guest speakers have been providing insights into future career pathways and in the next few weeks our 10’s will be enrolling in their Year 11 destination. Choices for our students are larger than they have ever been with opportunities to attend either of the Colleges, alongside great courses running at our local High Schools. Students have many pathways open to them and at times this can seem daunting. As a parent there are opportunities for you to find out more. Keep an eye out for enrolment information coming home shortly and make the time to have conversations with your young person about the right next steps for them in 2026.

A useful resource for families can be found here: https://careerify.tas.gov.au/im-a-parent-carer/ as this can be a great way to help support a conversation about next steps, at what can be a stressful time.

Our Grade 10 team are working hard to support our students so please feel free to reach out for a conversation if you need to clarify anything about the process to transition them successfully into Year 11.

We have our 1500m events happening this Friday, 24th, and next week will see our whole-school athletics carnival running on Tuesday and Thursday, a slight change from what was previously advertised.

If you are intending to come and watch, please remember to sign in and out at the main office as a visitor to the school.
